Origin's
Since always linked to economic activities, Aveiro has salt production and naval trade as its most valuable assets.
Valuable as good exchange, the salt, probably already explored in Roman times, it is documentary proven from 959, in the testament of Countess Mumadona Dias Monastery of Guimarães.

The clay sediments of the Aveiro lagoon have also enabled an economy of excellence in the ceramics sector.

São Gonçalinho Chapel
The chapel that exists today dates back to the early 18th century, as evidenced by the inscription dated 1714 placed on the chapel's portal above a niche that houses a stone image of São Gonçalinho.
The festivities take place on the sunday closest to january 10th. the festivities are very traditional and characteristic and involve throwing a type of hard bread from the top of the chapel for the people below to catch
